'The Cat in the Hat' Voice Cast: Where you've seen and heard these stars before
From Marvel superheroes and sitcom favorites to one of television's most notorious villains, these voices might sound surprisingly familiar.
A talking cat in a striped hat is already enough trouble. Give him Bill Hader's voice, surround him with some of Hollywood's funniest personalities, and things are bound to get crazy.
Warner Bros. Pictures Animation's The Cat in the Hat brings Dr. Seuss' mischievous feline back to the big screen, this time on a mission to cheer up two siblings struggling with a move to a new town. Unfortunately for the Cat, another disaster could cost him his magical hat.
Directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, the animated adventure features an impressive ensemble of familiar faces. Here's where you've probably seen, or heard, its stars before.
Bill Hader as the Cat in the Hat
If chaotic comedy had a spokesperson, it might as well be Bill Hader.
The actor spent eight seasons on Saturday Night Live before creating and starring in HBO's dark comedy Barry, playing a hitman who dreams of becoming an actor.
He's no stranger to animation, either. Hader voiced Fear in Pixar's original Inside Out and Flint Lockwood in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Now, he's lending his voice to a red-and-white striped hat.
Xochitl Gomez as Gabby
Recognize her from the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Xochitl Gomez played America Chavez, the dimension-hopping teenager in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Before joining Marvel, she portrayed Dawn Schafer in Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club.
Gomez voices Gabby, one of the siblings the Cat is supposed to cheer up. This is yet another multiverse to add to her reportoire.
Tiago Martinez as Sebastian
Young actor Tiago Martinez voices Sebastian, Gabby's brother and the other half of the Cat's latest assignment.
Unlike some of his veteran co-stars, Martinez doesn't have a long list of widely recognized screen credits yet. That makes Sebastian a particularly notable role in his growing career.
Quinta Brunson as Sherri
Anyone familiar with Abbott Elementary knows Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, the enthusiastic teacher determined to make her school a better place.
Brunson also created the Emmy-winning sitcom, proving she's just as talented behind the scenes as she is on screen. In The Cat in the Hat, she voices Sherri, adding another comedy big wig to the mix.
Matt Berry as the Fish
That voice. You know the one@ Matt Berry is best known to many viewers as Laszlo Cravensworth, the gloriously dramatic vampire from What We Do in the Shadows.
He's also appeared in British comedies The IT Crowd and Toast of London.
Berry voices the Fish, a character who already has enough reasons to be concerned whenever the Cat (or his friends) shows up.
America Ferrera as Carmen
From Ugly Betty to Superstore and Barbie, America Ferrera has played some unforgettable characters. She's basically acting royalty.
Animation fans will also recognize her as Astrid from the How to Train Your Dragon franchise.
Ferrera voices Carmen, Gabby and Sebastian's mother, bringing another iconic voice into the new adventure.
Giancarlo Esposito and more familiar voices
If Giancarlo Esposito sounds familiar, there's a good chance you've seen him being terrifyingly calm. He's best known for playing Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, as well as Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian.
The film also features Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang, Girls5eva actor Paula Pell and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt favorite Tituss Burgess. Their specific character roles have not been detailed in Warner Bros.' main cast announcement, but it's definitely worth the wait!
When is 'The Cat in the Hat' coming to cinemas?
The Cat in the Hat opens in Philippine cinemas and IMAX on November 4, 2026.
The movie follows the Cat's latest assignment for the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, an organization with a wonderfully ridiculous name and apparently very high expectations.
With this much comedic talent behind the microphones, the Cat won't be the only familiar personality causing a little mayhem.
