The viral nightmare that haunted the internet is stepping onto the big screen. So, if you’ve ever fallen down an internet rabbit hole at 2AM and questioned reality… this one’s for you.
CreaZion Studios is bringing A24’s sci-fi horror phenomenon BACKROOMS to Philippine cinemas on June 3, 2026 (and yes, the yellow wallpaper is exactly as unsettling as you remember). Alongside the release date, the studio unveiled an eerie first poster and a pulse-quickening teaser that opens a very wrong-looking doorway in the basement of a furniture showroom. What lies beyond? A liminal nightmare where time stutters, space folds, and escape is not guaranteed.
Produced by indie powerhouse A24 with Chernin Entertainment, Atomic Monster, and 21 Laps, BACKROOMS marks the feature directorial debut of Kane Parsons — the 20-year-old YouTube mastermind whose viral web series transformed a Creepypasta legend into a full-blown cultural obsession. Said cultural obsession raked in nearly 100 million views and spawns video game adaptations across Steam and Roblox.
Now, the internet-born horror graduates to cinema.
Academy Award nominees Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World) lead the cast, joined by Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, Avan Jogia, Chelah Horsdal, and Toby Hargrave. No doubt, a powerhouse cast fully prepared to act for their lives — because in this universe, they might actually have to.
