Bah, Humbug! 'Ebenezer' Unwraps a Ghostly Christmas in Character Posters Featuring Johnny Depp, Rupert Grint, Sam Claflin, and More
Charles Dickens' beloved Christmas tale gets a haunting new look as Paramount Pictures introduces Ebenezer, his supernatural visitors, and an all-star cast ahead of the film's December 2 Philippine release.

Looks like someone forgot to tell Ebenezer Scrooge that Christmas is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. Then again, the famously grumpy miser has never been particularly fond of the holidays. Unfortunately for him, his Christmas Eve spirits have already RSVP'd to haunt him until he gets into the holiday spirit.
Paramount Pictures has unveiled a new collection of character posters for Ebenezer, a live-action reimagining of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, starring Johnny Depp as the notoriously unpleasant Scrooge. Directed by Ti West, the film is slated to decorate Philippine cinemas in Christmas cheer and lots of side-eye from Scrooge.
The new posters offer a closer look at the characters set to turn Scrooge's silent night into a rather sleepless one. And with a filmmaker best known for the X horror trilogy behind the camera, this Christmas classic is certainly not one to 'ghost' for the Yuletide season.
Three Ghosts, One Scrooge, and a Christmas Eve to Remember
For anyone who needs a little Dickens refresher, A Christmas Carol follows Ebenezer Scrooge, a wealthy but cold-hearted man whose idea of holiday cheer is practically non-existent. His hatred toward the holiday season might make you wonder if he secretly runs an anti-Christmas club alongside the Grinch.
His plans for a quiet Christmas Eve take a supernatural turn when he's confronted by spirits who lead him through his past, present, and future. What follows is a journey through old regrets, uncomfortable truths, and the possibility that even the coldest heart can find a little warmth.
In Ebenezer, Johnny Depp takes on the titular role, with Rupert Grint portraying Bob Cratchit, Scrooge's long-suffering employee, and Sam Claflin playing his nephew Fred.
Andrea Riseborough appears as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Robert Strange as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Ian McKellen appears as Jacob Marley, Scrooge's former business partner.
The star-studded ensemble also includes Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Charlie Murphy.
A Christmas Carol With a Darker Twist
It's difficult to imagine a Christmas without at least one retelling of Dickens' beloved story. Since its publication in 1843, A Christmas Carol has inspired countless adaptations, each finding a different way to remind audiences that generosity, compassion, and second chances never go out of season. A trio of ghosts that come to warn you that you're being a stick in the holiday mudcake might be a great motivator too.
Written by Nathaniel Halpern and produced by Emma Watts, the film revisits the familiar journey of a man forced to confront the person he's become before it's too late to change.
As for moviegoers counting down to the premiere of Ebenezer, there's only one question left to ask: “Boy, what day is it?”
December 2, sir! And not a ghost of a chance we're missing it.
Catch Ebenezer in Philippine cinemas starting December 2, 2026.
