The members are just as electric—with plenty of heart, humor, and unexpected wisdom (yes, even dating advice and a unanimous vote for the team's fashion king!).
In this exclusive interview, the rising K-pop group opens up about their latest mini album [SILENCE SYNDROME], the promises they’ve made to fans, the thrill of recent award wins, and the stories behind their loudest era yet. From sentimental moments to laugh-out-loud confessions, this is 82MAJOR like you’ve never seen them before—unfiltered, unforgettable, and undeniably loud.

Hi, 82MAJOR! It's so nice to chat with you again---this time for your 3rd mini album!
(Congratulations, by the way!) How would you describe your journey from your debut to the success you have achieved, so far?
KIM DO GYUN: Since our debut, we have released one single album and three mini albums. And we even had three concerts! It’s been just a little over a year since we debuted but we managed to accomplish so much, and there are so many memories. It makes me even happier, knowing we have so many memories with our fans!
YOON YE CHAN: We really gave our all to everything! And we’re going to keep running forward from here too! Fans, you’ll stay with us too, right?
[SILENCE SYNDROME] features 4 tracks, and we heard that 3 of them, "Passport", "Promise You","영웅호걸" were performed during your 82MAJOR BOOM concert. What was it like performing the songs ahead of the album release?
YOON YE CHAN: I felt so happy! I was excited that we were showing them an unreleased song, and the fans who were seeing the performance for the first time cheered so loud, their reactions were super amazing.
HWANG SEONG BIN: We have had three concerts, and at every concert we got to perform a new song. And thankfully, our fans loved it every time. Now it feels like everyone’s looking forward to what new song we’ll perform at our next concert, and I’m just so thankful for that!
"Promise You" was specially created for your fans, right? Which lyric in the song best describes your love for 82DE?
YOON YE CHAN: “I need you 오늘 내일” (translated into English as ‘today tomorrow’) / We’re nothing without fans. The lyrics are about how 82DE(82MAJOR fandom name) are the ones 82MAJOR needs every single day.
PARK SEOK JOON: “따뜻한 햇살과 바람” (translated into English as ‘warm sunshine and breeze’)” /I wanted to share the message that they always bring us happiness, and I think we were able to express it well.
Given that the title "Promise You" was selected via a fan vote, how does it feel that your fans were such a central part of your new mini album?
NAM SEONG MO: It’s a song filled with love. We always wanted to make a song for our fans, and while getting ready for our recent <82MAJOR BOOM> concert, we finally got to work on it. It’s a song we made while thinking only about fans, and the title is even more special because it was picked by the fans themselves from the ones the six of us suggested. I was even happier because the title I suggested got picked, haha.
We know "Promise You" was chosen by fans, but we’re curious — were there any runner-up titles that gave it tough competition? Was there another title you secretly rooted for?
YOON YE CHAN: Moonlight
PARK SEOK JOON: 너란 꿈 ( translated to ‘A Dream Called You’)
KIM DO GYUN: 너(You)
HWANG SEONG BIN: 집 (translated to ‘Home’)
CHO SEONG IL: 네 곁에(translated to ‘By Your Side’)
"Silence Syndrome" is such a captivating name for a mini album. What is the primary message you wish to convey with it?
HWANG SEONG BIN: It means we want to give people a fantastic experience with 82MAJOR’s music that leaves them speechless. Just like the meaning behind our album name [SILENCE SYNDROME]!
CHO SEONG IL: ‘SILENCE’ has a double meaning. First, it stands for staying silent (SILENCE) and obeying a structured system. And second, it’s about how 82MAJOR is going to break that system and leave everyone totally speechless (SILENCE) with our own music. If you listen to this album, you’ll be able to feel 82MAJOR’s unique style of music.
We heard that all the members had a presence in the songwriting and music production of "Silence Syndrome." What was that like for you? What was the highlight of this experience?
YOON YE CHAN: I still remember when SEONG MO came up with the line “walking like Chow Yun-fat” while we were working on our song ‘HEORES.’ As soon as I heard it, I was shocked at how perfectly it fit the song. I think it’s a line that really captures the cool style and mood of both us and that song.
You’ve been featured in major fashion magazines. Which member is the most fashionable or the most "at home" in front of the camera for these shoots? Let us know who the official 82MAJOR fashion king is!

YOON YE CHAN: Both are totally me! / I’m into everything in fashion, accessories, and clothes!
Winning two awards at the D AWARDS is a huge feat. How do you think those wins have shaped your approach to this comeback?
KIM DO GYUN: It motivated us to work even harder on this album. It was such a great experience winning our first award at the very first award show we attended! All thanks to our fans who are always cheering us on. Thanks to all the support from our fans, we worked hard to show a cooler side of 82MAJOR with [SILENCE SYNDROME]!
As “performance idols,” your shows are known for their near-solar energy. Which part of your '82MAJOR BOOM' concert are you most proud of, and why?
HWANG SEONG BIN: It was the moment we performed our fan song, ‘Promise You.’ I was glad we could express how we feel about our fans. And I still remember how the fans prepared a surprise for us and turned on their phone flashlights. Seeing all the sparkling flashlights and our fans enjoying the song touched my heart.
Your second mini album, 'X-82', achieved incredible success, ranking 45th on Billboard’s Top Album Sales and 15th on the World Albums Chart. Did those milestones change the way you approached the creative process for '[SILENCE SYNDROME] or did you view this as an opportunity to experiment with new sounds?
PARK SEOK JOON: First of all, thank you so much for all the love. It made me want to create songs that more people would love listening to.
YOON YE CHAN: Rather than being influenced by others, we’re steadily making the kind of music we love. Especially, good songs that show off 82MAJOR’s unique vibe!
With the success of 'X-82' and now [SILENCE SYNDROME], what’s the next big milestone you hope to achieve as a group?
NAM SEONG MO: I want to release an album filled ‘only’ with songs that we wrote ourselves. We have been writing songs ever since before our debut, and we want to create music in all kinds of different genres. I hope 82MAJOR’s music becomes something truly irreplaceable.
CHO SEONG IL: I hope many people listen to [SILENCE SYNDROME]. While promoting ‘Choke’ and ‘Stuck’, thankfully, I could feel we were getting more and more love. We want to get even more love for this album! And we want to place # 1 charts too!
Circling back to the theme of 'Promise You', if you would make your fans one promise right now, what would it be?
KIM DO GYUN: We promise that we will go meet our fans in lots of different places. The day before we released [SILENCE SYNDROME], we went to Jeonju and did a busking event. We went there ourselves for the fans who don’t get many chances to see our stage outside of Seoul. From now on, wherever our fans are, 82MAJOR wants to go and perform for you!
What is the most important promise you ever made to anyone in your life? Did you fulfill it or did you break that promise?
CHO SEONG IL: I think the most important promise we made is to always bring good music to fans. We’re trying hard every day to keep that promise!
If [SILENCE SYNDROME] were a superpower, what would your ‘silence-breaking’ abilities be? Think of it like a superhero move — would you shatter awkward silences with epic one-liners, summon soundwaves with your voice, or maybe unleash a dramatic music drop at the perfect moment? Bonus points for the funniest or most dramatic answer!
PARK SEOK JOON: I want to have one perfect line that can break any awkward moments right away! When the mood is down, I could lift everyone’s spirits with just one line!
From concerts to fan meetings, what is your most unforgettable fan encounter, so far?
PARK SEOK JOON: It was the mini fan meeting we had during our ‘Stuck’ promotions. I was so surprised to see many 82DE(82MAJOR fandom name) there, and hearing all the loud cheers made me so happy! Thanks to all that energy, I was able to perform even better that day!
YOON YE CHAN: It was the day of our <MAJOR BOOM> concert! The most people came to the concert out of all the concerts we’ve done, and for the first time, we held it over three days instead of just one. It felt so new, and especially on the last day during the encore stage, the fans were cheering so passionately that we had even more fun!
What is the most recent thing you searched on the internet? Can you share it with us?
PARK SEOK JOON: Korean dictionary / I was working on lyrics and looked up some words to find the right ones!
YOON YE CHAN: Teeth accessories / I think they’re pretty!
You are trapped in an elevator with the characters from the most recent K-Drama or sitcom that you watched for 3 hours; who is in the elevator with you? Are you happy about it?
CHO SEONG IL: I’d want to be stuck in the elevator with Lee Kwang Soo from ‘High Kick Through the Roof.’ I feel like we’d still have a lot of fun together even in such an extreme situation. I think it would be so much fun!
Which member has the cleanest room, and which member has a room that looks like a tornado passed by?
YOON YE CHAN: My room, SEOK JOON’s, and SEONG BIN’s are pretty clean!
CHO SEONG IL: My room, SEONG MO’s, and DO GYUN’s are clean, but we have a lot of stuff, haha.
If you had 24 hours where absolutely everything was legal — no rules, no consequences —what’s the first thing you’d do?
CHO SEONG IL: Flying a plane / I think it’d be amazing to go anywhere I want!
If a fan would ask you for dating advice, what is the best advice you could give him or her?
CHO SEONG IL: I’d listen and sympathize first, and then give some practical advice.
PARK SEOK JOON: I’d suggest a practical solution based on reality, rather than just sympathizing with everything!
The first time we spoke for an interview, you mentioned that one of your goals is to rank on the Billboard charts, which you did! How does it feel to have that dream come true?
KIM DO GYUN: When I first heard about it, I couldn’t believe it, so I actually went on the website myself to check. Even after checking, it still didn’t feel real. That’s how shocked I was.
NAM SEONG MO: I was so happy. I really believe it’s all thanks to our fans. We’ll keep working hard to be 82MAJOR that can always give back all the love from fans!
During our first interview, you also mentioned that another goal is to win all awards at the Grammys. Given your success, how far or nearby do you think this goal is now? Shall we manifest it for 82MAJOR?
YOON YE CHAN: I think this is just the beginning. I really want to make that dream come true someday!
HWANG SEONG BIN: I believe if we just keep working hard, we’ll be able to achieve it!
If you could write down one manifestation for 82MAJOR’s future and seal it in a time capsule to open in 2 years, what would it say?
YOON YE CHAN: Hmm.. I think I’d probably write down some random playful words that don’t mean anything. I actually did a time capsule once before, and I remember being excited to open it later. But when I did, it didn’t contain anything super significant, which actually made me laugh instead. I think if I did it again, I would just write something fun like I did back then!
CHO SEONG IL: “Release Full-length Album” / I hope when we open the time capsule two years from now, it’ll be after we’ve released our full-length album. It’d be even better if it were a full-length album filled with songs we made ourselves!
