Ayala Malls Cinemas Launches “A-Reel Asia” with a Spotlight on Asian Storytelling

Ayala Malls Cinemas is celebrating the beauty of Asian storytelling with the launch of “A-Reel Asia: Stories from the Heart of the East,” a new initiative that brings critically acclaimed films from across the region to Philippine screens.

Designed as a premium platform for Asian cinema, “A-Reel Asia” showcases the diversity of filmmaking across Indonesia, India, South Korea, Japan, and China. From heartwarming dramas to epic blockbusters, the program offers audiences fresh stories and cultural perspectives, presented on the big screen.

Kicking off the series is director Hanung Bramantyo’s Traditional Kamasutra Teacher, a visually stunning Indonesian film that explores themes of tradition, love, and power. The title also introduces “Indo Jewels,” a sub-category of A-Reel Asia dedicated to the cinematic artistry of Indonesia.

Starring Raihaanun, Lola Amaria, Alika Jantinia, Devano Danendra, and Reza Rahadian, the film has already earned international recognition—nominated at the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam and selected for the 24th New York Asian Film Festival. Known in Indonesia as Gowok: Javanese Kamasutra, it captivates audiences with breathtaking cinematography, authentic native costumes, and a sweeping tale that blends drama, history, romance, and intrigue.
