Mark Your Calendars for Never Have I Ever: Season 3

Our favorite unhinged (yet lovable) teen is back!

We are, of course, talking about Never Have I Ever’s, Devi (played by the amazing Maitreyi Ramakrishnan).

Never Have I Ever, created by the hilarious Mindy Kaling, follows Devi as she tries to navigate the trials and tribulations of high school, love, friendships and family. Since its premiere in 2020, it has become one of Netflix’s biggest hits.

The highly anticipated third season premieres on Friday, August 12th, and we don’t know about you but we've already made sure to clear our schedules.

In preparation for its release, Netflix has recently dropped the official trailer. If it’s anything to go by, then we can expect a lot of laughs, sharp one-liners, drama, and chaos - all of which we have learned to associate with and love about this coming of age comedy. The trailer starts off with Devi and Paxton (Darren Barnet), now an official item, making an entrance down their high school hallway holding hands. This elicits responses that vary from astonishment to disbelief from their fellow classmates. However, the trailer hints that Devi basks in this newfound happiness only briefly, before her insecurities about their relationship catch up to her. As Devi’s therapist, Dr. Jamie Ryan puts it: “Did we discover that being in a relationship doesn’t solve all of our problems?” Check out the trailer to see Devi’s witty comeback to that.

The trailer shows glimpses of Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison) who was left heartbroken last season when he discovered that Devi ended up with Paxton. Will we get to see a Devi-Paxton-Ben love triangle this season? We also see snippets of Eleanor (Ramona Young) and Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez), but the brief trailer doesn’t divulge much about their story arcs this upcoming season. We also have no hint as to what happened after Kamala (Richa Moorjani) ditched dinner with her future in-laws to hang out with Mr. Kulkarni (AKA one of Devi’s teachers who is smitten with Kamala). And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention, Devi’s iconic mother, Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar (Poorna Jagannathan), who got back in the dating game for the first time after her husband’s death. Will she possibly find love this season? Guess we will simply have to tune in on August 12th to find out!

The third season will also introduce two new characters: Terry Hu as Addison, as a non-binary person from one of the other local schools and Deacon Phillippe as Parker, Devi’s debate team rival. It will be interesting to see how they fit into the plot and into Devi’s life.

Get ready for season 3of Never Have I Ever only on Netflix.
