Warner Bros. certainly knows how to give their fans the best Christmas gifts! On December 13, they released the trailer for the delayed Fantastic Beasts 3 film. From the looks of it, it looks like it’s going to be quite the watch!
For those of you still unaware about this amazing gem, here’s a little recap: Fantastic Beasts is a series that follows the adventures of the famous magizoologist- Newt Scamander. And it also tells us the story of Dumbledore and Grindelwald; plus many more things left out of the original Harry Potter franchise.
Fantastic Beasts 3, aka Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, is set to drop in April 2022; and if you still haven’t been able to take a look at the trailer, don’t worry, we got you! We watched the trailer for you and have compiled the 5 best highlights to look forward to.
1. More Information on Nagini’s Fate
Although the trailer for the third film shows many new fantastic beasts, Nagini is a very important part of this world. Her Maledictus curse is irreversible and she is now set to turn into a beast. Her story could add more heartbreaking moments to the film, and provide us with more answers to unravel her mysterious nature.
2. Secrets of Dumbledore
Considering the film is titled “Secrets of Dumbledore,” it is inevitable that more of his secrets will be revealed. The most heavily guarded secret of the Harry Potter franchise is Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s past relationship, so hopefully this part will finally reveal Dumbledore’s true gender identity.
3. Dumbledore’s Mysterious Younger Brother
The sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, revealed that Credence, the Obscurial, was actually Dumbledore’s younger brother- Aurelius. Credence is actually a vital part of Grindelwald’s rise to power. This never mentioned before younger brother who is unknown even to Dumbledore himself, is a great plot twist.
J.K Rowling has promised answers as to how he fits in canon in the third installment of the franchise.
4. Jacob Kowalski - A Wizard?
Apparently, Newt was instructed by Dumbledore to hand Jacob Kowalski a wand. Subsequently, we see him actually using it! How was he mysteriously able to do magic? Was he a wizard all along and never knew? Well, it’s another amazing plot twist we can’t wait to discover more about!
5. Mads Mikkelson as Grindelwald
Johnny Depp, who played Gellert Grindelwald in the first 2 installments of the film, has been recast. Instead, Mads Milkelson will be portraying the role of Gellert Grindelwald from the third installment onwards. If we’re to go by the trailer, he is actually doing a pretty good job of playing Grindelwald. We will definitely miss Depp, but Mikkelson seems to be the perfect substitute for him.
