Netflix has just confirmed the release date of their latest Korean movie offering, Space Sweepers, which will be blasting to our TV screens on February 5, 2021.
Starring top tier actors, Space Sweepers is a futuristic film that takes place in the year 2092. The plot follows the intergalactic adventures of Spaceship Victory, manned by a brilliant space pilot named Tae-Ho (Song Joong Ki), an enigmatic ex-space pirate named Captain Jang (Kim Tae Ri), and Tiger Park (Jin Sun-Kyu). The band of space explorers is joined by a reprogrammed military robot who goes by the name of Bubs, portrayed by Yoo Hai-Jin.
In a futuristic setting, wherein spaceships traversing the cosmos live off of restoring space debris, Victory is at the forefront, unparalleled by fellow ships.
After the team successfully raids a crashed space shuttle in search of useful debris, they stumble upon a 7-year-old girl inside. After further inspection, they realize that she isn't a mere girl, but rather a humanlike robot wanted by UTS Space Guards. Victory's crew ends up concocting a plan to demand ransom in exchange for the valuable robot. Cue the mayhem.
The trailer, released on January 5, gives viewers a glimpse into their extraterrestrial skylarking, as they travel into deep space and take on action-packed challenges. Space Sweepers also channels phenomenal thrills and tremendous visuals that are bound to keep you on the edge of your seat. To top it all of, this brand-new Korean masterpiece showcases an ideal fusion of electrifying action and riotous comedy, courtesy of a quartet that clearly don't harmonize with each other. From the teaser content alone, viewers can already anticipate an enthralling storyline, stellar effects, and award-winning performances.
Directed by Jo Sung-Hee of A Werewolf Boy and Phantom Detective, Space Sweepers is undoubtedly going to be out of this world.
